Odd Shoe Finder Evolves and Joins the “green” Movement

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

1683807837 b69edc4ad8 m Odd Shoe Finder Evolves and Joins the green Movement
I launched OddShoeFinder. com in 2007 after becoming aware of the millions of people worldwide who have to buy two pairs of shoes at a time or a shoe because of the difficulty is in feet, an amputation or an injury. I thought users line and sell the few unused shoes stuck in their closets for those with similar problems, but complementary shoe sizes. After six months was posted less than 150 single shoes and pairs of shoes, leaving me discouraged about the future of the area.

I received an unexpected e-mail via the website a few weeks ago offering to sell me thousands of new, correct name brand shoes on one dollar each. I felt that this was a once-in-a unique opportunity to populate the area, making appearances with users more likely and keep thousands of shoes from landfills.

About the same time as these shoes were delivered I received another email from someone else offering to sell me thousands of new, correct name brand shoes for me for ten cents each (if they shipped them over) and free if I could pick them up . I realized that this was a two-in-a unique opportunity that just happened to come within a few weeks in the first of its offer.

Before I had a chance to make shipping arrangements for the second round of shoes I received yet another e-mail via the website from a shoe manufacturer asked if I was interested to 3000 shoes his hands. It was all clear to me that the new, correct shoes is a very common problem in stores that sell shoes – especially self-service stores and thousands of these shoes are thrown away each year.

How do stores up with so many incompatible shoes? Sometimes people open more than one pair of shoes to try them and accidentally put one of the shoes in each pair in the wrong box. Some of these people coming back to the store when they realize their mistake, but others do not. Perhaps more common are people with incompatible feet deliberately replace the shoes to get one in every size, make a few line shoes in the store can not sell.

With most chain stores, is not compatible shoes are sent to a central location. In some cases, the chain itself sorts through his shoes and makes as many matches as possible to return to their shops and take what they can get the shoes that can not be matched. In other cases, the chain only sells the entire lot of shoes to save companies that sort shoes to find matches to sell at discount stores.

Mismatched shoes are worth so little that shoe stores, but may be worth much to those who normally have to buy two pairs of shoes at a time. So far there has been an effective way to match the shoes with those who need them.

OddShoeFinder. com is the first searchable Web site that matches otherwise unwanted shoes that would normally end up in a landfill with those who can use them. It provides business opportunities for some and cheap shoes for millions. While it was launched for people with incompatible feet, there is no reason for users not to send their matched pairs. It costs nothing to put his shoes on the site, and there are no commissions.

OddShoeFinder. com started as a very simple website. Persons registered with the site and posted his shoes and clicked on “buy this shoe, which triggers an email to the buyer, including the delivery address and contact information of the buyer. Buyers and sellers determine the price and shipping and payment methods. Users are encouraged to provide feedback the site and improvements have been developed based on their comments.

Some users complained about the inability to communicate with each other before a sale, so a communication system was. If they choose to complete the sale so we recommend they use the “Buy shoes” button because it removes the shoe from the lists and helps sellers and Webmaster keep track of sales.

Realized that many people can visit the site several times to search for shoes in size, only to discover something new, we installed a feature that allows users to receive an email each week for that when someone sends shoes in size (s) .

Some users have asked for a way to judge buyers and sellers, such as those on eBay and Amazon. com. Although we have not reached that point yet, OddShoeFinder. com now has a forum where people can post information about their experiences – or something else (in good taste, of course) they want to talk about. Many users of the site is suffering or has suffered from similar health issues and we hope that the forum is a place for them to find each other for advice and consolation.

Our plan is to help the site reach a critical mass by acquiring and messages mismatched new shoes so that everyone will be able to buy a cheap or pair of shoes, a true couple or a shoe in the perfect size.

If the Shoe Fits… Do Your Children Have Healthy Feet?

Monday, March 15th, 2010

75254726 f045e10e60 m If the Shoe Fits... Do Your Children Have Healthy Feet?
It seems that every two months the kids need new shoes and you can try to stretch your budget by identifying their current shoes, or giving them a couple of an older sister or brother has been discarded. Unfortunately, either solution can not be good for the feet of the children who need a shoe fix. Some health problems are caused by improperly fitted, worn or hand me down shoes include plantar fasciitis, Morton’s neuroma, excessive sweating, hammertoes, corns, bunions and blisters.

Feet are critical to the overall health of the human body. Your child has 26 bones in the feet with almost half of them located in the toes. Besides the bones, 19 muscles, 107 ligaments and 33 leads makes their feet extremely complex. As an adult you know from experience what pain foot problems and injuries can cause in your day to day life and this is even more frustrating for a child.

One way to reduce or eliminate the risk of problems with your child’s feet through to inspect their feet and shoes often. A foot inspection will alert you to problems that your child has not yet found painful, and a shoe inspection will help you decide whether you want to repair or replace them. The following is a suggested checklist of issues to be considered.

Let’s start with the foot inspection:

1. What is the size of their feet inspected? Most people have one foot larger than the others. If you are unsure of the size to take your child to a shoe shop to be sized correctly. 2nd Are there any obvious errors, such as blisters, cracks, bunions, corns or dirt is plain red and irritated? 4th Do you see any large patches of overly dry skin? 5th Give your child a foot massage and watch for signs of pain or cramps. 6th Make a note of any problems requiring a visit to your pediatrician.

Now let’s move on to the shoe inspection:

1. Pay attention to the size of shoes compared with the current size of your child is wearing. It may be possible to continue the shoes slightly larger than the current size, but never let them wear shoes that are too small. 2nd How the sole of the shoe looks like? It was thin to begin with, or has thinned due to use? 3rd Either loose heel? 4th Ask your child to put his shoes again and check if they have adequate toe room or places where the shoe causes friction against the skin. 5th Have your child go in your shoes so you can see their time.

Once you’ve looked at your child’s feet and shoes, consider whether you can repair any problems without hurting your feet to wear shoes. If no toe room, but otherwise the shoes fit, you may be able to go toe box with stretching spray and a shoe stretcher, depending on the fabric of the shoes.

If the soles of the shoe has become very fragile and easy route to respond to the pressure when your child can develop plantar fasciitis is a painful inflammation of the connective tissue in the arch. If you can flex shoes in the toe box shoes need replacing.

When the heel of your child’s shoes are too loose compared with the rest of the shoe, use a heel sets made for children. You want to avoid your child develop hammertoes caused by using his toes to keep your shoes from sliding off. Calluses on the tops of the toes is a giveaway to the heels of the shoes is to lose.

If shoes fit well but there are some spots of pressure, try different socks. Socks now come in a variety of thickness and weight. Your child may need a thicker sock to prevent pressure to bear especially if they often wear sports shoes.

If problems with your child’s feet seem to progress despite the new and well-fitting shoes, they may need an orthotic device. Ask your pediatrician to recommend an orthopedist or podiatrist for an evaluation. Most orthotic devices are made of plastic and you distribute body weight evenly and adjust the foot.

Feet your child is born with their feet they need to carry them throughout life. Attention to their feet can improve their overall health by eliminating the legs, back and neck. A child will go the distance around the Earth three or four times during their lifetime. Do not want to make the journey as painless and comfortable as possible?

What Parents Should Know About Children’s Feet Development, Shoe Selection and Maintenance

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

1660593221 11421bffc4 m What Parents Should Know About Childrens Feet Development, Shoe Selection and Maintenance
The purpose of this guide is to help parents make an informed decision about what kind of shoes they purchase for their children and how it affects their foot development. Turning the right size now, can prevent many problems later in life, so here are some facts to guide you. FACT # 1: Did you know that children’s feet continue to grow until they are about 18?
For this reason it is advisable that they wear well fitted shoes, their feet should be checked and measured was three to four months and shoes replaced as soon as it has grown. Most foot problems that adults face due to lack of proper foot care when they were younger. Putting quality shoes for your child’s feet and they will thank you for it in the future. FACT # 2: Why does my child’s shoe is not long enough?
It is a common myth that shoes are meant to last a long time with the children. The truth is that children are the average lifetime of a pair of shoes 4 months depending on the quality of shoes. So you get outstanding value for money when you buy a pair of shoes that will last for 6 months? Often overlooked by parents is that active children impose enormous abuse of shoes. The average active child will take about 20000 steps per day covering a distance of nearly eight miles, especially school shoes. These are not ordinary walking steps taken by an adult, but rammers, running, jumping, skidding, twisting, abrasion, kicking action that seriously punish the shoes. Also these shoes are exposed to dirt, stone, flooring, chemicals, dirt, water and soil. If the shoes give three months’ satisfactory wear under these demanding conditions, the child would have covered approximately 700 miles. If the shoes are priced at say £ 35, which averages out to just over one mil 4p – certainly the cheapest transportation that can be bought. New shoes should be purchased not primarily due to being worn out, but it is outgrown. FACT # 3: Is the Hand-me-downs should be avoided at all costs?
This is a controversial issue. But when a parent is confronted with financial problems – and sometimes a selection of hand-me-downs or no shoes at all – you have to deal not with what is best, but what is realistically practical. In the case of infants shoes problem with hand me downs to the next youngest child is not so serious. Typically, these shoes have only been worn for a short period. The little child is often made small “footprint” inside the shoe, nor has it otherwise bring the shoe out of shape. So when the economic conditions leave no choice, hand-me-down shoe will not become a serious problem. To be on the safe side, always have been inspected by a speacialist shoe fitter. School shoes are best avoided as hand-me-downs because they tend to take the most stressful of all children wear shoes. FACT # 4: Do you know that one of your feet may be larger than the other?
Yes it is true, and that is why it is appropriate to have both feet measured when buying a new pair of shoes for yourself or your children. Moreover, a size 10 in Clark’s not the same as a size 10 in the Ravel. It is only a standard guide, but the material and shape of the shoe last (model in which the shoe is constructed) determines the final fit of the shoe, which is why some of us can carry 2 or more sizes of shoes, and everyone will be comfortable. FACT # 5: Are high-heeled shoes suitable for children?
Provided that it is not used as an everyday shoe, it is not appropriate for children to wear high heels every day. You might ask why? Since children’s feet are not fully developed until the mid twenties. In high heels, weight and stress on your feet forward displacement, and bearing in mind that your feet are not fully developed at this stage can lead to permanent damage from his feet are not at this stage to bear the full weight and emphasis on. FACT # 6: Are expensive designer shoes necessarily the best?
The answer is no, but it is not to say a few designer shoes is not well done. But you can make a mistake by choosing a well executed design that does not fit your child’s feet properly. To ensure that the shape of the shoes you choose for your child resembles the shape of the child’s feet. Remember shoes made of natural materials are best for children’s feet. FACT # 7: outgrown shoes, how could the problem be?
Many parents and shoe retailers do not realize how serious it is outgrown shoe problem really is. Several years ago a study conducted in the U.S. including stores that sell children’s shoes. They were asked to test the fit old and worn shoes for children in the store to buy new shoes. It was found that more than 75% of cases were outgrown in varying degrees. In addition, estimated by the fitters that over half of the children had worn outgrown shoes from one to three months, despite the fact that the shoe was of appropriate size when it is mounted. From experience, many children are assembled is changed only shoes that have grown long. It is not surprising that many doctors and chiropodists believe that many or most adult foot problems begin in childhood and that many of these problems are directly or indirectly caused by normal wearing of outgrown shoes for large periods of childhood. It is therefore important that parents check their children’s shoes from time to time to ensure that they have not grown out and cause damage to your feet later in adulthood. FACT # 8: How do I care for wet or damp shoes?
It is not uncommon to quickly wipe your shoes on a hot radiator or in a drier, especially if it is the only child the couple and must be worn the next day. This should be avoided, as quick-drying allows the toe to curl up and shoe and leather to shrink. This can reduce by one full shoe size when the shoe is turned on again, it can also damage the leather fibers and sometimes crack the leather. Shoes should always be dried at room temperature, and possibly with shoe trees inserted during the drying period to prevent curling or shrinkage.
